Robbers Engage Police in Wild Car Chase

IN WHAT can be likened to a scene in a Hollywood movie, a wild car chase has led to the arrest of three suspected robbers, who were fleeing in a taxi cab after what initially seemed like a successful robbery expedition.

The suspected robbers include Isaac Opoku, 22; Isaac Kwakye, 25; and Nana Akwasi, 28; who is a blacksmith by profession, the police have disclosed to journalists in Kumasi during a press briefing.

They were speeding away in a taxi cab after robbing an occupant of the taxi of GH¢1,000, on March 12, 2018 and pushing him out of the moving taxi cab.

But they had bitten more than they could chew, as their victim (name withheld), took another taxi cab, and gave the robbers a chase of their lives, resulting in their arrest.

COP Ken Yeboah said the suspects, in a Corolla taxi cab, with registration number GR 960-Z, picked the victim at the Breman UGC Junction, but the driver, along the way, diverted from the route where the passenger was heading to.

The suspected robbers then pulled an offensive weapon on the victim and managed to forcibly take away an amount of GH¢1,000 from him before pushing him from the moving vehicle.
