S3fa: Singing more English than Twi is deliberate

Afropop and Afrobeats musician, S3fa has disclosed that using English in her songs helps to reach a much wider audience with her music.

Speaking in an interview on Property FM in Cape Coast, S3fa said though she uses Twi but English makes people understand her songs better.

“Using English in my songs helps me to reach a much wider audience because you know that not everybody speaks Twi,” she said.

“Even though I put a bit of our culture or our language into it we also have to sell our songs outside of the country.

S3fa justified why Nigerian songs are now global “Just like everyone is comparing us to the Nigerians because their songs everybody is able to understand due to the use of English. And so using English is okay and people live it and it helps to get to a wider audience as I said”.

Strong Passion

She further stated that there’s no way marriage can let her stop doing music.

According to the 28-year-old Afrobeats singer and songwriter, her passion for doing music won’t allow her to quit after getting married in future.

“No please I’m not worried at all that when I get married I won’t be active in the scene because music is my passion. You know when something is your passion, you can’t just let it go one day and you can’t wake up one day and say I won’t do it again. So I mean when it gets to that time we’ll see how to work around it,”.

False

In addition, she said the perceived idea of disunity among Ghanaian artistes is just an illusion.

S3fa said Ghanaian artistes support each other during shows in December to show unity.

She responded “The funny thing is that they say that the people outside that means you haven’t even seen it and it’s just things that are being put on social media that they’re judging from.

“I think that in the industry we are okay and we’re friendly as colleagues especially when it gets to December you know all these artistes that do shows and you have colleagues going to support them all the time.

“I do it all the time so there’s unity it’s just that everyone has their own cross to carry and everybody is working on themselves. So you might not see us partying all the time because everybody is busy working,”.
