Salafest: A Must-Watch Classic Boxing Event Returns with Thrilling Bouts

Wisdom Boxing Promotions (WBP), the reigning champion of Ghana’s boxing promotions, is back in 2024 with an electrifying show for boxing enthusiasts. In true WBP style, the event revolves around the joyous occasion of Eid Mubarak, celebrating the end of Ramadan.

The Return of the Beast promises an unforgettable night of pugilistic prowess. The main event features a clash between two formidable fighters: Bastie Samir and Idowu Rasheed from Nigeria. They will battle it out in a 10-round, 3-minute-per-round contest for the UBO Africa Light Heavyweight Championship.

Bastie Samir, a beloved figure in Ghanaian boxing, aims to rekindle the nation’s passion for the sport. Having been absent from the ring for nearly two years, Samir expressed his determination during an exclusive interview on Metro TV’s Phil Quartey segment. He declared, “I want to bring a world title home to Ghana. It’s my dream, and this fight is my chance to continue that pursuit.”

But the excitement doesn’t end there. The undercard features a lineup of talented fighters:Wasiru Mohammad, Nana Adjei Clinton, Shakul Samed, Paul Sackey and Charles Amartefio

Salafest takes place on April 13th at the Decathlon, Kawukudi Car Park, with the first bell ringing at 5:00 PM.

WBP’s CEO, Coach Asare, remains committed to showcasing the next generation of boxing stars. The amateur segment of the event will include bouts featuring juniors, elite fighters, and a thrilling female match. Notably, Theophilous Allotey, a two-time African bronze medalist, will headline the amateur fights.

Adding to the excitement, the fight night will also host an EBoxing tournament, overseen by the Ghana Esports Association.
