Samini Urges FDA To Stop Tramadol Abuse

Renowned Dancehall artiste, Samini, has urged the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to expedite measures to end the effect of tramadol on the youth.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, he stated that drug abuse was claiming precious lives hence the need to check the act.

“That’s a crazy thing happening right now among the youth. We have been hearing this since we were kids. This is like a clear picture. It was like a myth but now we are seeing kids buy and mix things up” he told Andy Dosty.

There is a growing trend of Tramadol abuse among Ghanaian youth in some parts of the country.

Recent surveys have shown the drug is also used among market women, drivers, and in some cases, students.

According to Samini, even though there has been several documentaries and programs, educating the youth to stay away from drugs, government needs to do more to eradicate such abuses.

The ‘My Own’ hit maker, hinted that he has friends who are addicted to the drug.

“I know people who looked healthy but now look older due to the effect of the drugs. Before they could come close but they can’t anymore.”

He further advised the youth to desist from taking tramadol.

“Don’t drink or take drugs when you know very well you are not sick. It has no benefits to your health.”
