Senior Minister Donates To Good Shepherd Orphanage Home

The Senior Minister, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo has called on well-meaning Ghanaians and persons holding public offices to be committed to the wellbeing of orphans and the less privilege in the society.

Donating items worth millions of cedis to children at the Good Shepherd Development Outreach (GSDO)―an orphanage at Akwatia in the Eastern Region, Mr. Osafo Marfo said caring for orphans is part of the contribution to the nation’s development.

The donation according to him was to support the livelihood of the children living in the orphanage.

The items donated include; small size plastic chairs, bags of rice, gallons of oil, soft drinks, stationery, clothing and detergents.

The donation exercise had been done together with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mrs. Mercy Ama Sey.

Addressing persons present at the ceremony, Mr Maafo, said his visit was not going to be a onetime visit.

“Together with your MP, Mrs. Mercy Ama Sey, we promise to assist you in every way possible to make GSDO comfortable”, Mr. Maafo said.

The Senior Minister further pledged his support to give to the home 20 bags of cement to help in the construction of a storey building which the home was putting up.

Founder of GSDO, Ms. Philomina Agyei touched by the gesture was moved to tears.

She expressed gratitude to the Senior Minister and the MP of Akwatia for their support.

Ms. Agyei established the home in January 2008 with the aim of contributing her maximum quota to the welfare of Ghanaian children especially the orphaned.

The orphanage currently has 30 children ―27 boys and 13 girls.

Two of the children are currently in the Senior High School, while the rest are in Kindergarten, Primary and Junior High School.

The senior minister had also joined Muslims at Denkyemboa to celebrate the Eid Ul-Adha.

Addressing the people, Mr Maafo, wished them well on their celebrations, and encouraged them to keep supporting the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo government in peace, as they are already doing.

Touching on the poor state of the roads, he asked the people to be patient as plans had far advanced for the construction.
