Social Media Affects My Peace of Mind – Tulenkey

Ghanaian musician Tulenkey, known in real life as Chief Osei Bonsu, has shared why he chooses to stay away from social media most of the time saying, it is time-consuming and affects his peace of mind.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, Tulenkey explained that social media takes too much of his time and affects his mental peace. He said he prefers to focus on his work without constant interruptions.

“Imagine you are in the office and you get notification [that] some girl is distracting you. Most people have their notifications on, because WhatsApp should be when you go online, that is when you reply messages.

Like email, if you open our email, you never get a notification from your email unless you turn it on,” he explained.

According to the rapper, checking a single notification can break focus and it takes about seven minutes or more to regain full concentration. To avoid this, he has turned off all notifications on his phone.

“When I wake up from bed, until 12pm my phone is on ‘do not disturb’ because that is the time I do most of my work,” he added.

Tulenkey also compared social media to a loud market, saying it is full of noise and distractions.

“One thing about social media is that it is in your face, there is a lot going on. It’s too much. If you really meditate and seclude yourself from everything and you enter social media it looks like you have entered a market place,” he said.

He is currently promoting a new song titled Barima, which focuses on men’s mental health. The track is available on all major music streaming platforms.
