‘Soldier’ Robber Raid Mobile Money Shop

AN UNKNOWN notorious robber, who usually dresses in military uniform and robs innocent people at gun-point, is on rampage in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti region.

The ‘soldier’ robber, and his colleague, reportedly raided the townships of Foase and Atwima Afrancho, where they made away with huge sums of money and other valuables over the weekend.

The robbers, described as very dangerous by eye witnesses, managed to escape arrest by fleeing on their jungle motorbike, after indiscriminately firing series of gunshots in the air to scare away people away.

A victim of the Foase robbery, who declined to mention his name for fear of further attacks, narrated his ordeal on radio how he was robbed at gun point by the two.

The victim, a mobile money vendor, said he was in his shop when the attackers arrived on their big, roaring motorbike.

He said one of the robber’s, who was dressed in military dress, started firing gunshots into the air and on the ground, after which he ordered him to hand over his valuables. Without any hesitation, the victim said he parted with the GH¢3,000 cash on him and four mobile phones.

According to him, the robbers immediately fled on their motorbike, adding that he was reliably informed afterwards that the duo later embarked on similar Rambo-style robbery operations at Atwima Afrancho.

“I gathered that they also robbed unsuspecting people of their valuables, amid the firing of gunshots, and fled into thin air”, he said in a shivering voice.

The suspected robbers are still at large.
