Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., known by his stage name Shatta Wale, formerly Bandana, has urged Ghanaians to take personal responsibility for their lives instead of blaming politicians for their struggles.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session on September 20, 2025, the outspoken musician told his fans not to be misled into protesting or fighting the government when there is nothing to gain from it.
“Stop listening to people; it is not working. You are delaying your own time. Don’t let someone influence you to go and fight some government when you know that you’re not going to benefit from it. Those influencing you know their own mindset. Why should we play politics like that? Every politician deserves private jets and helicopters. The things they do, if we are asked to do, we cannot. That’s why we voted for them,” Shatta Wale said.
The Dancehall star explained that while politicians have their own privileges, ordinary citizens must focus on building their lives through hard work and determination. He stressed that depending too much on government or blaming leaders for every difficulty was not the solution.
“You guys allow it. So, don’t blame politicians for your losses and your lazy life. Politicians do not own your life. Own your own life. There are many ways you can create something for yourself,” he added.
Shatta Wale’s comments come at a time when public debates about governance, economic challenges, and youth unemployment are rising in Ghana. Many young people continue to express frustration about limited opportunities, but the musician believes change starts with individual effort.
Known for his bold and sometimes controversial statements, Shatta Wale once again used his platform to challenge his fans, urging them to work harder and take charge of their own destinies.
