Take Saudi Arabia’s Money – Sannie Daara to Partey

Former Ghana Football Association Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has advised Black Stars vice-captain Thomas Partey to seriously consider a move to Saudi Arabia following the expiration of his Arsenal contract.

Partey officially became a free agent on July 1 after his five-year stay with the English club ended on June 30, 2025. The 32-year-old midfielder joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and made 167 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 7 assists during his time in North London.

Despite facing several injury challenges, Partey remained a key part of Mikel Arteta’s squad. With his contract now ended, several clubs are reportedly interested in signing the Ghanaian international. These include European sides like FC Barcelona, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and his former club Atletico Madrid.

However, clubs from Saudi Arabia have also expressed strong interest in signing Partey. Sannie Daara confirmed during his appearance on TV3’s Sports Station on Monday that multiple Saudi teams are chasing Partey.

“The interest from Saudi Arabia has been true. And even one more club in Saudi Arabia has been added to the clubs that were originally interested in him,” Daara revealed.

While acknowledging the interest from Europe, Sannie advised Partey to consider his age and future financial security.

“There are some other clubs also in France and in Italy interested in him. But for me, my advice to Thomas, and I’ve told him this thing personally, my advice to him is that at his age, he should look at what he will spend from now until the rest of his life,” he said.

According to Sannie Daara, who now works as a CAF Media Officer, the financial package from Saudi clubs is too good to ignore.

“The money from Saudi Arabia is tempting. I think he should go for the Saudi money, it will help him,” he added.

Over the years, Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in football, attracting top players from Europe in a bid to develop a competitive league. Several stars have moved to the Gulf nation for lucrative deals, and Partey could be the next big name to make the switch.

As the transfer window continues, Partey has yet to announce his next club. Reports suggest he is weighing his options, with a final decision expected after July 5.

Fans and football analysts are closely watching to see whether the midfielder will remain in Europe or take up the lucrative opportunity in Saudi Arabia.

For now, his future remains uncertain, but voices like Sannie Daara’s are encouraging him to secure his financial future while still playing at a high level.
