Tetteh Beats ‘Macbones’ to Win WBA Africa Title

Jonathan Tetteh defeated Seth Gyimah, popularly known as “Freezy Macbones,” by unanimous decision to win the WBA Africa light heavyweight title on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The bout headlined the Legacy Rise The Showdown and drew huge attention because of the long-standing rivalry between the two fighters. Their bad blood dated back to their previous meeting during the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers, making this contest a heated grudge fight.

Tetteh entered the ring as the underdog but showed confidence and maturity from the opening bell. Coming into the fight on an 11-bout unbeaten run, he stayed calm and followed his game plan with discipline.

Across the eight rounds, Tetteh used smart movement, sharp timing, and clean punches to control the fight. He regularly outboxed Freezy Macbones, landing clear combinations while slowing down his opponent’s aggressive attacks.

The fight took a dramatic turn when Freezy Macbones was deducted a point for biting Tetteh, an act that showed his frustration and damaged his chances.

At the end of the fight, the judges scored it 80-73, 78-74, and 77-75, all in favor of Tetteh, sealing a well-earned victory.
