Tic, Okyeame Kwame, Others Fight Ambolley

Rapper Okyeame Kwame, Bessa Simons, Ben Brako and TiC have expressed their disappointed in recent comment made by veteran highlife musician, Gyedu Blay Ambolley over a defamatory statement he made against their personality.

Okyeame Kwame through his lawyers, is demanding the veteran musician retracts his comments stressing that he has never received any such amount from either Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour) or MUSIGA.

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, speaking in an interview on Showbiz 927 on 3FM alleged that the former president of musicians’ body shared the GH¢2 million that was given to the union by the government to some selected musicians, and cited Okyeame Kwame as one of the recipients.

He further alleged that the musicians never paid the money back. Okyeame Kwame has however denied the allegation through a letter.

“Our client’s attention has been drawn to defamatory statements you made against our client during an interview that you granted to TV3. During the staid interview, you alleged that our client was given Ghc50,000 by the President of MUSIGA at the time as a loan and which money our client did not repay. This interview has been published by other media platforms,” his lawyers said in a strongly worded letter to the veteran musician.

“Sir, we have the instructions of our client to inform you that your statements are false and a little due diligence on your side would have revealed the untruth in your statement,” the letter added.

However Hiplife artiste Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah, aka TiC, in a separate interview, said he had decided not react to Ambolley’s claims because he saw him as a frustrated veteran highlife musician.

“I was surprised when I heard the news that Ambolley said I benefited from the two million cedis. I respect him a lot. I see him as a father so I don’t want to react to his baseless allegation. Maybe he made the allegations out of frustration,” TiC said smiling.

On his part, Simons also denied benefiting from the two million cedis, saying “Ambolley should be ignored since he is well known when it came to making unfounded allegations against those he hates in the music industry.”
