Trouble Looms as Boso Gets Two Rival Paramount Chiefs

Trouble is looming in the Boso-Gua, as the traditional area now has two rival paramount chiefs.

Nana Kwadwo Gyamfi, a Holland-based Information Technology (IT) Specialist, has been nominated as the new Omanhene although there is a reigning Omanhene.

He was formally introduced to the chiefs and people at a ceremony by the Head (Abusuapanin) of the Royal Asona-Domuna family, Mr. Kwadwo Danso Odame.

This happened at a time Nana Osei Nyarko, whose name is in the chiefs’ list as the Omanhene of Boso, had traveled outside the town.

The date for the new chief’s coronation has not yet been fixed and the Mankrando, Osabarima Agyemang Oboahyia Kumnipa II, defended the nomination process as proper.

He said it was in tune with the traditional and customary practices of the people in the area.

Checks made at the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) showed that there could be more trouble ahead, especially so as Nana Nyarko has neither abdicated nor been found guilty of any wrongdoing.

The new Omanhene used to be in the show business – highlife music and was popularly known as “Sloopy Mike Gyamfi”.

Now, 62, some of his albums are “Telephone nkomo”, “Asem Kakra” and “Mpesuamba”.
