TTH CEO Back to Work, REGSEC Beefs Up Security

The Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) who was chased out by two groups affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been reinstated.

The groups; the Kandahar Boys and the Concerned NPP Youth Coalition, have accused Dr. David Kolbila of incompetence and misuse of hospital funds.

They also said he had neglected them despite the role they played in getting him appointed.

Chairman of the Regional Security Council, Salifu Saeed, told Citi News that REGSEC has unlocked Dr. Kolbila’s office and assured him of adequate security.

Although similar acts of political vigilantism have gone unpunished, he indicated that those found culpable will face the full rigors of the law.

Mr. Saeed said REGSEC will intensify its surveillance network to forestall such occurrences in future.

Staff complicit in Kandahar protest

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations indicate that some staff of the hospital instigated the pro New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth groups to chase out Dr. Kolbila.

Speaking at an emergency meeting by the Northern Regional Security Council., Mr. Saeed said: “We have met as RECSEC and the investigation machinery has been activated strongly and they are to search for the perpetrators of the act and arrest them immediately.”

According to him, a five-member Adhoc Committee has been established to investigate the unfortunate incident by the Kandahar Boys in collaboration with the group calling itself Concerned NPP Youth Coalition.
