Van Vicker Drags LilWin to Court

Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has sued his colleague Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, for defamation, demanding GH¢10 million in damages over statements he claims have damaged his reputation.

In a writ of summons dated October 10, 2026, issued by his lawyer, Ebenezer Asare, Van Vicker accused LilWin of making false and damaging statements about him in a video. He argues that the comments have harmed his reputation as an actor, film producer and director.

The actor is asking the court to declare the statements defamatory and award him general and exemplary damages. He is also demanding a public retraction and apology on news portals, with the same prominence as the original publication, for four consecutive weeks.

The legal action follows comments LilWin made about Van Vicker’s alleged failure to fulfil his responsibilities on a movie project.

In the video, LilWin accused Van Vicker of spewing lies and failing to perform his duties on a film production. He claimed that he and his team had made several attempts to contact the actor over issues concerning the movie but had received no satisfactory response.

LilWin further alleged that Van Vicker had failed to return his calls despite agreeing to take part in the production.

He also accused the actor of seeking public sympathy by speaking to GhanaWeb about their disagreement.

Despite the complaints, LilWin said he still considered Van Vicker a friend and was willing to forgive him if he apologised and explained why he had failed to respond to his calls.

He added that Van Vicker was expected to feature in his upcoming movie, “Journey to Africa,” but warned that the actor could lose his role if he failed to show remorse.

In his statement of claim, Van Vicker argued that LilWin’s comments portrayed him as a dishonest, disrespectful and incompetent professional who accepts film roles but fails to show up for work.

He further contended that the statements created the impression that he was deceitful, arrogant and involved in questionable behaviour.

According to the actor, the comments also suggested that he had been banned from participating in Kumawood productions.

Van Vicker denied engaging in the conduct alleged by LilWin, maintaining that he was a professional actor, producer and director who adhered to the rules of the film industry.

He argued that the statements were published maliciously and were intended to expose him to public hatred, ridicule and criticism while damaging the reputation he had built over the years.

The court document also states that the statements remain accessible online and could appear when people search for his name on platforms such as Google, potentially causing further damage to his reputation.
