Watchman Shoots Thief Over Fuel

A SUSPECTED Diesel thief is now battling for his life in the hospital after he was shot at close range after being caught syphoning diesel from storage drums into small gallons in a fitting shop at Amado Village near Mpasatia in Ashanti region.

Kofi Moses, who is 25 years old, the suspect, according to the police, was said to have secretly sneaked into a fitting shop in Mpasatia, in the Ashanti region, ostensibly to steal the fuel under the cover of darkness.

Unfortunately for the suspect, the night watchman at the fitting shop, Abdul-Mumin Iddrisu, who was alert even at that ungodly hour, detected the suspect’s bad intentions so he shot him with a single barrel gun in his knees to stop him from escaping.

The Nkawie District Police report, confirming the incident, noted that “On15/03/26 at about 0700hrs Abdul-Mumin Iddrisu, a security man at Amado, a suburb of Mpasatia, accompanied, by Haruna Salifu aka ‘Chairman Kutu’, arrested and brought suspect Kofi Moses, aged 25 years to the station with a gunshot wound on his left knee.

“The former reported that same day at about 0500hrs, whilst he was on duty as a security man at Amado village fitting shop, where diesel is kept in drums for safekeeping, the suspect came to the shop with a red and yellow gallons and was syphoning the diesel from the drums as a result he shot his left knee with a single barrel gun”.

The suspect, who was bleeding profusely, was immediately rushed to the Nkawie/Toase Government Hospital for medical attention, where he was admitted for thorough treatment following the severity of his injuries to help save his life.

The police, the statement said “proceeded to the scene of crime where red and yellow gallons, one used BB cartridge and drums filled with diesel were seen.

Investigation was extended to the security man’s room and the locally manufactured single barrel gun was retrieved with one live BB cartridge”.
