We Have Competent Men To Replace Old Guards In Parliament – Otukonor

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is preparing an army of competent professionals to replace experienced legislators exiting Parliament in 2020.

For the first time in 28 years, the opposition NDC would have to field new candidates to represent some constituencies.

Most of their experienced politicians, including the country’s longest-serving Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli West constituency, Alban Sumana Bagbin, will not return to the August House.

Four others, Richard Quashiegah, MP for Keta; Clement Kofi Humado, MP for Anlo; Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, MP for Ketu South and Dr Mrs Bernice Adiku Heloo, MP for Hohoe will also not seek re-election.

The exit of these experienced legislators, according to political pundits, will create a vacuum in the Minority caucus in Parliament.

But, the NDC is not bothered about the exit of these MPs because they have a workable plan.

Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Boamah Otukonor said they have vibrant people to replace them.

“We are not worried about the exit of these experienced MPs; we have vibrant and hardworking replacements to beef our strength up in Parliament,” he stated on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, yesterday.

He said the new young men and women will give the New Patriotic Party MPs a run for their money.

“The new candidates are not political neophytes. We have competent men and women to help our leaders keep government on its toes,” he bragged.
