Wee Bus Seized in K’si – Cripple Arrested

A NEOPLAN bus, with registration number GT 19-F, which had slabs of weed, suspected to be Indian Hemp concealed under it, for onward transportation to the Republic of Niger, has been impounded by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

The police, acting upon a tip-off, seized the bus, which was packed at a location within the Asawase Market in Kumasi. The bus was quickly towed to the regional police headquarters, where a search confirmed the suspicion of the police.

Thirty-eight slabs of suspected Wee were found concealed under the bus, which was about few minutes away from moving to Niger.

A police source, who confirmed the arrest to THE NEW PUBLISHER, said three people have been apprehended in connection with the illegal item.

The suspects included Abubakari Jamilo, (a disabled man and owner of the weed) aged 32, Ibrahim Mumuni, 48, (the driver) and Adamu Issaka, who was onboard the bus at the time of the arrest.

The source, who did not want to be named, told the paper that just as the police were about to tow the bus away, a crippled man appeared at the scene. According to the source, the driver, Ibrahim Mumuni, who was earlier arrested, pointed to the cripple, Abubakari Jamilo, as the owner of the items.

All three suspects were whisked away to the station, together with the bus.

As at the time of filing this story, the Police Drug Law Enforcement Unit is investigating the case for possible prosecution in court.
