We’ll Find Out What Killed Daddy Lumba – Family Says

The family of the late Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, has confirmed that a formal investigation is ongoing to determine the true cause of his death.

In a statement dated October 27, 2025, the family secretary, speaking on behalf of Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, and his elder sister, Ernestina Fosuh, said they are working closely with the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and other authorities to uncover the truth surrounding the musician’s death.

According to the statement, the family’s intention is not to create controversy but to seek clarity, justice, and protect the legacy of the celebrated musician.

“The family also wishes to reassure the public that a formal investigation is currently ongoing to determine the actual cause of death of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh. The family remains committed to uncovering the full truth, in cooperation with the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and other relevant authorities.

As Mrs Fosuh and the entire family have consistently maintained, the goal is not conflict, but clarity, justice, and the preservation of the truth and dignity of their beloved husband, brother, and icon, Daddy Lumba,” the statement read.

The family also revealed that before the statement, they had earlier written a petition on October 13, 2025, signed by the family secretary, highlighting several inconsistencies in the accounts surrounding Daddy Lumba’s passing.

In that petition, both Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina Fosuh disclosed that they had received three conflicting reports about what happened before the musician’s death. One account came from an eyewitness, another from the police and coroner, and a third from Odo Broni, the woman said to have been living with Daddy Lumba at the time of his death.

They explained that these contradictions have left the family confused and uncertain about what truly happened.

According to them, their only aim is to establish the truth through a fair and transparent investigation. They believe this will not only bring closure to the family but also preserve Daddy Lumba’s memory and protect his name from any false claims.

The family emphasized that they will continue cooperating with the police and all relevant bodies until the real cause of death is discovered and justice is served.
