We’re Sorry You Couldn’t Ask Your Questions – Minister Apologizes to Creative Arts

Deputy Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has rendered an apology to journalists who were denied the opportunity to quiz the President during his encounter with the media.

On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as part of the events to commemorate his first year in office, hosted selected journalists from various media organisations for an encounter.

Though two known journalists from the Tourism and Arts sectors, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo and Francis Doku were present at the Flagstaff House, none of them was given the nod to question the President on the state of the Arts.

However, Mr Oppong Nkrumah in an interaction with JoyNews’ MzGee, apologised to journalists who were not given the opportunity to engage the President.

“For every journalist who was there, who did not get an opportunity to ask a question which they deemed as very important, we are sincerely sorry but as you know that is the nature of press conferences. Not everybody in the room will get an opportunity to ask a question,” he explained.

“We are sorry you didn’t get the opportunity. We’d look forward to more suggestions on how to perhaps do it in a way that makes it more equitable or more satisfying to you,” the Deputy Information Minister added.
