Wiyaala apologises to Shatta Wale over US citation brouhaha

Songstress Wiyaala has apologized to Shatta Wale for accusing him of mitigating with organisers for her to receive a citation of Merit award in the USA at backstage.

Both Wiyaala and Shatta Wale on Saturday performed at the Summerstage concert in Crotona Park, Bronx.

During the concert, they were supposed to be awarded the citation within the interval of the show but things didn’t go as planned.

After Shatta Wale was presented with his citation on stage, Wiyaala was allegedly denied access to the stage to receive hers.

The organisers rather wanted to present it to her backstage, a situation which didn’t sit well with her.

In a Facebook post on Sunday to narrate what transpired, she alleged that she was told team Shatta Wale was behind the decision not to honour her on stage.

She went on to say that she does not accept awards backstage and has no intention to receive the citation backstage at the turn of events.

In her new Facebook Live, Wiyaala after coming into reality that the whole incident had nothing to do with Shatta Wale’s influence said she has apologised to him.

According to the singer, her confirmation from Chairman of the African Advisory Council to the Bronx Borough President’s office, Mohammed Mardah caused her to thrash out the issue with Shatta Wale and make peace eventually.

“Mr Mohammed Mardah came out and wrote an apology letter to myself and my whole team, that it was his fault that the things went the way they went so he is taking responsibility for that,” she said in the video.

“From our camp, we say we have accepted the apology,” she added.

She mentioned that Shatta Wale also called her and said he knew nothing about the mishap and that if he did, he would even had gone backstage to help her solve the issue.

“…and on that note, I’ll say sorry to Shatta,” Wiyaala apologised.
