Wontumi Slams Akamba -Over Agyarko Seat Comment

Calls by the newly elected National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Joshua Hamidu Akamba, to win back the vacant Ayawaso West Wuogon Parliamentary seat has been described as “insensitive” by a Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.

Shortly after it emerged that Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko had passed on, Akamba was quick to say that the Ayawaso West Wuogon Seat has been an old seat of his party which will be re-won in a by-election.

“We will go there and take our seat. Don’t forget that seat used to be an NDC seat and so we will go there and take the seat. If the president has taken Mr. Agyarko for granted, then we will go and take our seat back”, Akamba vowed.

The above statement according to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, smack of insensitiveness.

He explained that “such uncouth words could only come from children who didn’t get proper training at home”.

According to him, at a time when the nation was mourning a Member of Parliament, it was so wrong to introduce the topic of by-elections.

He explained that come what may, the state would have to organize an elections and this didn’t lie in the mouth of Hamidu Akamba to remind us.

Even fools and goats apply breaks when there is danger ahead but Akamba has shown clearly that he is way below a fool and a goat put together.”

“I want to say this, even when the late former President Atta-Mills died, I knew I had to slow down with my political talks.

We don’t have to let politics divide us to the point that we would lose respect for the memory of our departed brothers and sisters and the family they left behind”, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi said.

He continued that “President Akufo-Addo, then a candidate of the NPP, suspended his campaign and did the right thing by honoring John Evans Atta Mills when he passed away. That is the Ghanaian way and we are brought up to be sensitive and wise.”
