What the World Is Doing Now on Energy Transition: The Good and the Bad

Right now, many countries are working hard to move from dirty energy to clean energy. This change is called energy transition. Instead of using coal, oil, and gas, the world is turning to solar, wind, water, and other clean sources.

There are many good things — merits — about this change. First, clean energy helps to fight climate change. Burning fossil fuels causes air pollution and makes the earth hotter. Clean energy does not do this. Using the sun or wind to make electricity is better for the planet.

Second, energy transition creates jobs. Many people are now working to build and fix solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries. It also brings electricity to places that did not have it before, especially in rural areas of Africa and Asia.

Third, clean energy is cheaper in the long term. After setting it up, the sun and wind are free to use. Countries do not need to buy expensive oil or gas from others. This makes them more independent and saves money.

But there are also some demerits, or challenges. Switching to clean energy costs a lot of money at first. Some poor countries need help to afford the technology. Also, clean energy depends on the weather — no sun means no solar power, and no wind means no wind power.

Even with these problems, the world is moving forward. Countries are sharing ideas and giving support to each other. Big companies are also investing in clean energy projects.

In simple words, the good sides of energy transition are stronger than the bad sides. It helps the planet, creates jobs, and gives us hope for a better, cleaner future.
