You’ll Fail Your Exams ‘Basaaa’ – Showboy Curse Legon Students

Ghanaian musician Showboy has expressed strong disappointment after being left out of the performance line-up for the 2025 Pent Hall Week celebrations at the University of Ghana, Legon and he’s not holding back.

The outspoken artiste went as far as cursing students who didn’t push for him to be booked, saying they will fail their exams and struggle on the streets after graduation.

In a viral video posted on June 7, 2025, the “Ye Blow” hitmaker criticized the event organisers and Legon students for ignoring him. He was especially upset that Nigerian artiste Mayorkun was booked instead of him, a Ghanaian living in the country.

“I’m in Ghana, but you didn’t book me. You went ahead and booked someone from Nigeria. That’s not right, I hurt hurt. Now you want me to perform for free? That’s disrespectful.” he said angrily.

Showboy did not hold back as he lashed out at the students involved in organising the event. According to him, they made a big mistake by not pushing for him to be included. He even went as far as saying students who didn’t support him would face failure.

“Many of you will fail your exams. If you’re a Legon student and you didn’t fight for me to perform at Pent, prepare for a hard life. You’ll graduate and end up on the streets just like me, and then you’ll understand how hard life is. You did not appreciate me,” he said

The musician also questioned why a foreign artiste was given the platform when he believes local talents like himself deserve it more.

“You chose a Nigerian artiste over me? What can he do that I can’t? Apart from Shatta Wale and Samini, who performs better than me in Ghana? Medikal can’t match my energy on stage. Kweku Smoke isn’t close either,” he said.

Showboy ended his rant by claiming he is among the best live performers in Ghana and deserves more recognition, especially from young people in universities who he says should support their own.
