2 remanded for murder

TWO KEY suspects in the alleged murder of five people at Nyinawusu in the Ashanti Region have been caged, a police report has indicated.

The two suspects are Solomon Mensah, who is aged 21, and Mamud Ibrahim, who is also reported to be around 18 years old.

The Nkawie Circuit Court on December 20, 2021 refused to take their plea of the two suspects and consequently remanded them, the police report said.

The duo is therefore expected to remain in prison custody for few days to re-appear in court again on December 23, 2021, the report, sighted by the paper said.

It said the prosecution team told the court that police intelligence revealed that the two suspects had a hand in the demise of five people.

According to the prosecution team, the five dead people, were reportedly murdered at Nyinawusu, a farming community in the Ashanti Region.

“Acting on intelligence, the two suspects were separately apprehended from their hideouts by the police”, part of the police report disclosed.

“On 17/12/2021 at 1300 hours and on 18/12/2021 at 1840 hours respectively suspects Solomon Mensah, 21 and Mamud Ibrahim, 18, were arrested by Police in connection with the murder of five persons at Nyinawusu upon intelligence.

“They were arraigned before the Nkawie Circuit Court on 20/12/2021 and have been remanded to prison custody custody to reappear on 23/12/2021”, the police report said.
