22-Year Old Phone Thief Grabbed

A 22 year old suspected phone thief is in the firm grips of the law in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region.

The suspect had sneaked into a private residence located at Labour Roubdabout, ostensibly, to steal a mobile phone.

However, luck ran out for the suspected thief, as he was spotted by some people, right in the act of stealing.

Alarm was quickly raised and the thief in the early hours of Tuesday quickly took to his heels, to prevent his arrest.

Unfortunately for the suspect, residents of the densely-populated area, were in their homes due to the lockdown.

People that were supposed to be in their houses to avert being infected by the COVID-19 virus, rushed out and were seen giving the suspected thief a free-for-all hot chase.

After few minutes of intensive chase, the thief became tired and he was grabbed by his pursuers. They beat him up without mercy.

Some Good Samaritans rescued the young boy and handed him to the Zongo Police Station in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, residents of Fante New Town, Asem and Labour Roundabout are complaining about thefts.

According to them, stealing cases are on the rise in the area, two days after government’s lockdown policy.
