Adapt ethical considerations in your duties – CU Vice Chancellor to graduates

The Vice Chancellor of Central University, Professor Bill Buenar Puplampu has charged graduates of the school to exhibit what he described as ‘ethical considerations’ as they step into the world of work.

“There were some of you who taught you may not see today, because of the difficult challenges you went through but you have made it. We thank and I want you’ll to know the same force you applied in the process to complete, apply same force in whatever life gives you after here. Remember that the Lord is always at hand. Let patience, ethical considerations and God’s fearing be part of your profession. Use your profession to demonstrate God’s goodness for humanity and country” he said.

Mr. Buenar made these remarks in his keynote address as the school held her 20th congregation ceremony at the Christ Temple, ICGC in Accra.

In addition, the Vice Chancellor explained that a person with ethical considerations is essentially not someone with a title or certificate, but rather a graduate with the right “temperament and quality to cause a positive change in society.”

He further added that leaders with ethical considerations were not merely concerned about their personal well-being or that of their immediate friends and family, but have a broader outlook and awareness of the overall organizational, local, national and global context in which they are operating.

The ceremony, which was split over two days, had 1,108 students graduating from 31 programmes with the first day taking care of the Central Business School, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; the second day was for the School of Pharmacy, School of Architecture and Design, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the School of Graduate Studies.

Out of the 1,108 graduating students, 70 had first class with 411 going home with second class upper whilst 314 had second class lower. 136 had Third Class with 36 obtaining passes. 136 were from the graduate school.

The Overall Best female graduating student was Deka Diana who majored in Business Administration, Accounting option with the Overall Best student being Appiah-Kubi Kwadwo Brako who majored in Theology.

About Central University

Central University is an educational Initiative of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).

It has its origins in a short-term Pastoral training institute, which was started in October 1988 by ICGC. It was later incorporated, in June 1991 under the name, Central Bible College. In 1993, the name was changed again to Central Christian College. The College later upgraded its programmes to the baccalaureate level, and in line with national aspirations, expanded its programmes to include an integrated and practice oriented business school, named Central Business School.

To reflect its new status as a liberal arts tertiary institution, the university was re-christened Central University College in 1998. The National Accreditation Board has since accredited it as a tertiary Institution. It is co-educational with equal access for male and female enrolment.

Central University has eight (8) faculties/schools, namely the Central Business School (CBS), the School of Architecture and Design (SADe), School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Faculty of Law(FOL), School of Pharmacy(SOP), School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and  the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS)

In January 2016, the University College received the long awaited Presidential Charter to become an autonomous and a fully-fledged university as Central University.
