Ati-Zigi Ranked Most Effective Shot-Stopper

Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has been named the most effective shot-stopper at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after an impressive performance for the Black Stars.

The St. Gallen goalkeeper finished the tournament with a goals prevented statistic of 2.35. This measures how many goals a goalkeeper stopped based on the quality of the chances faced compared to the goals conceded.

Ati-Zigi was also Ghana’s highest-rated player among those who played at least 100 minutes, earning an average rating of 7.21.

The 29-year-old played only 135 minutes at the tournament. He started Ghana’s opening group-stage match but suffered an injury during the team’s second game, which ruled him out of the rest of the competition.

Despite his limited time on the pitch, Ati-Zigi’s performances were one of the few bright moments for Ghana. The Black Stars reached the Round of 32 before their World Cup campaign ended with a narrow defeat to Colombia.
