Bawumia: NPP won’t forsake Wontumi

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not abandon its incarcerated Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi.

Addressing NPP Ashanti Regional executives in Kumasi on Thursday, Dr. Bawumia categorically stated that the Party would do everything within its power to secure the release of the embattled politician within the shortest possible time.

He, therefore, entreated party members in the Ashanti Region, — where Wontumi enjoys massive popularity — to remain focused, calm, and united, especially during these difficult moments.

Dr. Bawumia is reported to have made the remarks when he met the Ashanti Regional executives on Thursday to discuss the state of the party following Wontumi’s incarceration.

The 2028 NPP flagbearer travelled from Accra to Kumasi in the company of some astute NPP legal team members for the closed-door meeting.

Dr. Bawumia assured NPP members in the region that the party leadership holds Wontumi in high esteem, considering the important roles and services he has rendered to the party over the years.

He detailed some of the legal strategies the NPP would adopt to help secure Wontumi’s freedom, reiterating his earlier call for party members to remain calm.

Dr. Bawumia also admonished NPP members to stay united as one family with a common destiny and work towards the party’s electoral victory in 2028.
