‘Beasts of No Nation’ Actor Strika Jailed

Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, popularly known as Strika and best known for his role in the 2015 Netflix film Beasts of No Nation, has reportedly been sentenced to prison after he was caught attempting to steal metal railings from the Kwashieman footbridge in Accra.

The actor, who once appeared alongside Idris Elba and Abraham Attah in Beasts of No Nation and also gained international recognition for his role in the film, was arrested after he was allegedly caught removing the railings from the footbridge on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

A video of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing Strika holding some of the metal railings. He reportedly indicated that he intended to sell them as scrap.

Following his arrest and subsequent court appearance, Strika is said to have informed blogger and former caretaker, Official Gunshot GH, about his situation in a phone conversation.

“Father, they have jailed me. Daddy, they have taken me to court, and they will be taking me to Nsawam. Father, I am very stubborn,” Strika noted.

According to the actor, he had been handed a one-year prison sentence and was scheduled to be transferred to Nsawam Prison on Monday, September 14, to begin serving his term.

However, reports about the actual length of his sentence remain conflicting. While some reports claim that Strika was sentenced to one year in prison, other sources say he received a seven-year sentence. The exact sentence has not yet been independently clarified.

The development has sparked strong reactions on social media, with some users expressing disappointment over the incident while others have called for accountability.

Some netizens have reportedly commended the authorities for the alleged seven-year sentence, while others have appealed to the Accra High Court to consider reducing the actor’s punishment.
