BIMA offers free health screening

Global Healthcare and Insurtech provider, BIMA, has commenced this year’s edition of the healthy living special promo dubbed ‘Stay in good health with the free BIMA Blood Pressure (BP) and Body Mass Index (BMI) check’ across its ten customer experience centers across the country.

The exercise, which started at the Madina Experience Centre in Accra saw nearly one hundred residents passing through to have their checks for free, and also have a free consultation with a BIMA Doctor over the phone after their results were shared with the BIMA Doctor medical team.

Speaking to the media after the exercise, the mHealth Operations Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Adutwum Sarkodie said, the purpose of this all-important exercise across the country is to give everyone the opportunity to proactively check their health status at any time even though they are not sick.

According to him, the focus is to introduce preventive healthcare to the public as a better way of life.

“We noticed that preventive health is not common among Ghanaian communities. People get to only speak to health professionals when they are sick, and we want to change the narrative as BIMA. So we have started with health checks which I think is a big step in the right direction. After the check-up, one gets the opportunity for a free consultation with our BIMA Doctors who provide 24/7 services “, he said.

Also, the Customer Experience Center Associate in charge of the Madina Experience Center, Moud Naa- Quaye added that this is an opportunity to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of everyone.

She took the opportunity to call on everyone to pass by any of the ten experience centers across the country to have a check.

“I call on everyone to register with BIMA insurance because we provide you with not just a Doctor but a lifetime friend to help you in all your health needs and to achieve our dream of protecting every family’s future “, she said.

According to Dr. David Sunu, Chief Medical Officer and Acting Country Manager of BIMA Ghana, this initiative is a strategic move to incorporate a physical dimension to BIMA’s telemedicine service.

The health check at the Experience centres provides information to improve the range of medical conditions that could be resolved by a BIMA Doctor.

“At BIMA, we believe in continually improving our service and responding to customer feedback. Health checks at our Experience centres are a key part of our efforts to improve our clinical diagnosis and expand the range of medical conditions that BIMA Doctors can resolve over the phone. We also provide similar in-person services through our partnerships with 158 laboratories in 9 regions of Ghana where vital checks and laboratory tests can be done as part of BIMA’s health services”.

Some residents who had their checks were grateful to BIMA for such an opportunity given them. They encouraged others to also take advantage of the exercise.

BIMA Ghana continues to contribute to efforts towards the attainment of universal health coverage in Ghana through its digital health services called BIMA Doctor.

It also offers financial protection through the provision of insurance cover to over 2 million customers.

As part of BIMA’s Customer centricity Agenda, BIMA in partnership with GIZ ( Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit) launched ten Customer Experience Centres in Chorkor, Suame, Ejisu, Madina, Tema, Cape Coast, Sunyani, Tarkwa etc to bring customer service and claims to the doorsteps of customers.
