Coach happy
Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has expressed pride in his team after Ghana qualified for the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Ghana secured second place in Group C with four points from three games, sealing qualification with a 2-0 win over Canada in their final group match on Saturday, October 24.
The Maidens bounced back from a difficult start to the tournament, losing 3-0 to Norway before missing several chances in a 3-3 draw against Brazil.
Speaking to FIFA after the win over Canada, Nana Adarkwa said a tactical change played a key role in his team’s performance.
“Our changes make the difference. Our changes and our tactical approach. We are happy to still be there, but going forward, I know it is going to be very difficult. But we will work for that and make Africa proud” he said.
