C/R: Fuel tanker in flames at Gomoa Dabenyi

Residents of Gomoa Dabenyi in the Central Region were gripped with fear as a fuel tanker was seen blazing with fire in the area on Monday evening, June 1, 2020.

An eyewitness who spoke to Citi News said the tanker stood burning at a spot which is about 15-20 minutes drive from Budumburam Liberia camp.

The eyewitness who could only identify herself as “Mommy”, as at when she narrated the incident on Eyewitness News said the cause of the fire was unknown and could not state whether people were injured or not.

She, however, disclosed that the Ghana National Fire Service was at the scene working hard to put out the raging fire.

“About ten minutes ago, we saw flames coming from a part of the street. When I asked, my neighbour told me someone was burning tyres but all of a sudden, I could see people rushing towards my house. I inquired and was told that there was a burning tanker. So I went there to see and it’s so glaring. What scares me is the recalcitrant drivers who are driving past the fire. There is a driveway which is less than about 50 meters from where the tanker is burning. My fear is that these drivers will endanger all of us here because there is a fire and petrol. The firemen are working. I can see them trying to put out of the flames,” she recalled.
