Coach Queiroz To Fans: Stay Home If You Won’t Support Us

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has called on Ghanaian fans to support the players available for Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Portuguese coach wants supporters to focus on the players representing Ghana instead of complaining about those who are missing from the squad.

Ghana need a strong response after losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké in their opening Group C match. The defeat has increased pressure on the Black Stars to secure their first points in front of their home fans.

Queiroz delivered a strong message to supporters ahead of the crucial fixture.

“It’s better to stay home if you’re coming to the stadium to complain about players that are not here instead of supporting those that are here,” Queiroz said.

Ghana will be without several key players, including Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Nathaniel Adjei, who are unavailable for the qualifier.

Queiroz has called up replacements as he prepares for his first competitive home match since returning for a second spell as Black Stars coach.

The coach believes strong support from the stands can give his players the confidence needed to recover from the defeat in Côte d’Ivoire.

Tuesday’s match presents Ghana with the chance to earn their first Group C points and revive their qualification campaign.

The Black Stars are also seeking a return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the 2025 tournament.
