Dr Otabil caused the Bad names Today on Himself – Kwesi Pratt

The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior has said the former Managing Director of Capital bank who is currently the Managing Director of ADB, Dr. Kofi Mensah earlier warned Pastor Mensah Otabil and the board members of Capital but refused to listen.

Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr Mensa Otabil, has come under heavy criticism following the collapse of Capital a year ago, he was part of the Board Chair of the bank and that has generated a lot of public outrage on him after reports got to the media of embezzling an amount of GHC610,000 million Cedis.

He has broken his silence on the controversies in the banking sector, specifically, his role in the collapse of the Capital Bank as Board Chairman of the defunct bank.

He has explained in a statement issued Tuesday that during his non-executive role as a Board Chairman of the bank, some decisions that were made turned out well while some did not turn out as well as had been anticipated.

“As far as I can tell, everything was done with the best of intentions and the interest of various stakeholders in mind.

But speaking on Korkokoo with sit-in-host Nana Yaw Kesse this morning, Kwesi Pratt Junior said, ” I know of documents available that, Dr. Kofi Mensah realized of bad amaenities and things not going on well especially on the part of the directors and the board and wrote a letter to the then board chairman, Pastor Mensah Otabil that if they don’t put things in order, the bank (Capital bank) will collapse and they will all go to jail.”

According to him, general oversee of the International Central Gospel Church refused to listen to the advice by the former manager, and that has caused him facing these problems at this time.

In a related development, Kwesi Pratt said although the calling by Ghanaians for the prosecution of the directors involved in the collapsed banks is in the right direction, he believes we must rather emphasize and focus on retrieving our monies back.
