GRA To Introduce New Invoice

The Commissioner General at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr. Kofi Nti has disclosed that a modified invoice on which VAT, NHIL and the GET fund levy are collected, would be introduced soon.
This, according to him, is part of the tax policy measures introduced by government.

Addressing the media yesterday in Accra, he said “Pending the coming into use of the modified Commissioner General’s invoice, taxpayers can continue to use the old VAT invoice”.
The announcement follows after parliament had passed into law the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act amongst others, after the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta had proposed some tax measures in the 2018 mid-year budget review.

To ensure a smooth transition, the Commissioner General urged registered taxpayers to continue using the old VAT invoice.
He also mentioned that taxpayers authorized to use computer generated invoices should modify their accounting software to accommodate these levies.

“It is required that registered taxpayers should indicate on sales invoices issued that ‘Amount Is Inclusive of VAT, NHIL & GETFL’,” he stressed.
Tax Amnesty
Meanwhile, the Commissioner General has called on all businesses and income earners to pay their tax before August 31st.

He said the authority would go after tax defaulters and evaders when the closing the date is due.
“As we draw close to the end of August, I want to remind businesses and income earning persons that GRA will be very tough on all tax defaulters and evaders,” he said.

He assured that the authority would henceforth crack the whip in their efforts to ensure equity in the payment of taxes.
“All the appropriate sanctions provided in the various tax acts, according to him, would be visited on tax evaders and defaulters to make sure that all citizens contribute their quota to nation building,” he said.
