Gyan Returns To Back Stars: Ayews Still In Exit Role

Coach Kwesi Appiah has announced a 23-man squad for a double-header with Sierra Leone in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Rocked by defeat by Kenya last month, a loss that triggered fresh questions over his decisions in charge of the Black Stars, the Ghana boss has responded with a squad full of players returning to stake their claim in the side again.

Of the 23 players called up by Appiah for the double-header against Sierra Leone, ten did not make the trip to Kenya and four – Bernard Mensah, Jonathan Mensah, Mubarak Wakaso and John Boye – are getting their chance again after at least a year out in the cold

Skipper Asamoah Gyan and Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan as well got their return to the team after missing previous call-ups.
Ghana will host the senior national team of Sierra Leone on 11th October at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and travel to Freetown on October 15 for the second league tie.
Below is the final 23-man squad;
Goalkeepers: Richard Ofori, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Felix Annan
Defenders:
Andy Yiadom, John Boye, Harrison Afful, Jonathan Mensah, Daniel Amartey, Nicholas Opoku and Lumor Agbenyenu
Midfielders: Thomas Partey, Mubarak Wakaso, Afriyie Acquah, Christian Atsu, Bernard Mensah, Thomas Agyepong, Isaac Sackey and Kwadwo Asamoah.
Forwards: Asamoah Gyan, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Majeed Waris and Emmanuel Boateng
