Hunt for new Black Stars coach: gov’t settles on Chris Hughton

Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu believes Chris Hughton is the right person to take over as the next Black Stars head coach.

The Black Stars are without a coach after Milovan Rajevac was sacked following Ghana’s poor performance at the AFCON in Cameroon.

Reports indicate that some officials of the Ghana Football Association have travelled to Germany in a bid to convince Borussia Dortmund assistant manager, Otto Addo to take up the job.

Meanwhile, former Premier League manager Chris Hughton who is in Ghana, has been linked with the job and is said to be government’s preferred choice.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, the Majority leader believes the former Brighton manager has what it takes to transform the Black Stars.

“Chris Hughton is a coach who knows how to build with average materials and that’s Ghana’s situation now. Our materials are not good so we need Chris to weld.

“Otto Addo is just a second coach for Dortmund.” He said.

It is understood that the Ghana Football Association is working on appointing a new coach this month ahead of the World Cup play-off in March.

Ghana will take on Nigeria in a two-legged tie between March 23 and 29 for a place in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
