iShowSpeed: I’ll Play for Ghana at 2030 World Cup

Popular streamer iShowSpeed has said he will play at the 2030 FIFA World Cup for Ghana, the United States, or Portugal.

The 21-year-old internet personality made the comments during a livestream, where he reflected on how far he has come since streaming at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He noted that he has grown from a teenage content creator into a global online figure with millions of followers.

“Four years ago, I was 17 and streaming at the World Cup. Now I’m 21, and I will be 25 in the next World Cup.”

“In 2030, I’ll be playing in the World Cup for Ghana, USA, or Portugal,” he told Brazilian legend Ronaldo.

For context, iShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., was born in the United States, which makes him eligible to represent the USMNT. His mention of Portugal is linked to his strong admiration for Portuguese football and stars he often praises online.

His connection to Ghana developed after his widely publicised visit to the country during his Africa tour. During that trip, he embraced local culture, received a Ghanaian name, and was even presented with a passport.

Since then, he has shown strong affection for Ghana and the Black Stars, frequently expressing support for the national team. His comments have sparked online reactions, with fans debating his eligibility and joking about his future in international football.
