Jordan Ayew Joins Sheffield United  

Captain of Ghana’s national team, Jordan Ayew, has joined Sheffield United on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season.

The English Championship club confirmed the signing on Tuesday, with Ayew agreeing to a one-year contract with the Blades.

The 34-year-old forward left Leicester in July after his contract expired. His move to Sheffield United marks a return to the Championship, where he will bring valuable experience as the club looks to improve its early-season form.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder expressed his delight at completing the deal and praised Ayew’s experience at the highest level.

“I spoke last week about being close to getting someone in from the free agent market and things did move quite quickly so I am really pleased to have Jordan with us.

“We’re talking about someone here with bags of experience from right at the top level of the game. Only a few months ago he was captaining Ghana in the World Cup, so he’s someone with real pedigree.

“He did well at this level last season in difficult circumstances and has played all across the front positions during his career which gives us plenty of options.

“We used the free market to great effect last season, and we believe Jordan can come in have an impact here just like Pat (Bamford) and Jaïro (Riedewald) did.”

Ayew’s arrival comes at a crucial time for Sheffield United, who have made a poor start to the new Championship season. The Blades have recorded just one victory from their opening five matches.

The Ghana international has more than a decade of experience in English football. He has played for Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City in the Premier League.
