Kafui Danku partners Hollywood’s star to revive film industry
Truly standing by her word to revive the film industry in Ghana, Executive Director of the National Film Authority (NFA), Kafui Danku-Pitcher, has led a powerful initiative to empower Ghanaian actors through an intensive workshop with Hollywood star Morocco Omari.
The host venue, the Silverbird Cinemas at the Accra Mall, came alive with excitement and inspiration on Thursday,May8th 2025 as Ghana’s film industry took this bold step forward under the leadership of Kafui Danku.
Organized in partnership with Revele Films and Laceup International, the one-day Actors Workshop brought together aspiring and professional actors for hands-on training from the seasoned American actor, director, writer, and producer.
Morocco Omari, famed for his roles in Empire, Chicago Fire, P-Valley, and NCIS, delivered a masterclass on film acting, active listening, cold reading, emotional beats, and the art of reacting on camera.
Kafui Danku’s presence and leadership at the event underscored her strong commitment to strengthening Ghana’s film industry by investing in its core, the creative people.
“Workshops like these are not just about learning lines; they’re about building careers and creating global opportunities.
The NFA is dedicated to creating platforms that elevate our talent and connect us with the world,” she highlighted.
The packed event featured scene work exercises, Q&A sessions, and direct feedback from Omari, who stressed the importance of discipline, preparation, and passion in the craft of acting.
“This is about lifting each other up and raising the standard of storytelling, not just in Ghana, but across the continent,” he told participants present.
Participants left the workshop feeling energized and better equipped to compete on a global stage. Many praised the NFA and its partners for making such a high-impact learning opportunity accessible to local talent.
Since Kafui took office at the NFA, she has fostered meaningful consultative engagements with different groups within the film sector, who now feel acknowledged and appreciated.
Before this, such constructive discussions on the future of the industry were either rare or non-existent.
As the NFA continues to roll out more development programs, this workshop marks another bold step under Kafui Danku’s leadership to build a vibrant and globally competitive film industry in Ghana.
