Kejetia Women Go Gay Over Market Project

Traders and shop owners at the Kejetia Market in Kumasi have expressed excitement at reports that the second-phase of the Kejetia/Central Market Project has received official parliamentary approval to commence.

Parliament, after going through the processes, has given the green light  for the second-phase of the project to commence in earnest. The exact approval was for the cash component of the project.

An elated Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, has stated that the second phase of the project is welcoming news for residents, traders and stakeholders of the market and its environs.

According to him, Kumasi needs the Kejetia/Central Market project urgently to help boost economic and other activities in the city.

He therefore pledged the Assembly’s support and readiness to help make the project a success for the residents of Kumasi to benefit.

Meanwhile, works on the first-phase of the project, which suffered some legal battles, are almost completed by Contracta, a firm from Brazil.

And as part of the relocation of traders from the Central Market to Kejetia, the market women recently toured Kejetia to assess works done so far.

Mary Nkrumah, Head of the Textile Sellers, commended the KMA for a good job done at Kejetia, urging the assembly to sustain its good works.

According to her, the traders cannot wait to move into new facility and trade, admonishing the traders in the city to corporate with the KMA.
