Korle Bu to launch IVF services, corporate clinic by end of 2026

The Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Dr Yakubu Seidu Adam, has announced plans by the hospital to introduce In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) services and a Corporate Clinic before the end of 2026 as part of efforts to expand specialist healthcare delivery.

Speaking at the hospital’s 2025 Annual Performance Review held in Accra on Thursday, April 30, Dr Adam said the two initiatives form part of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s broader strategy to respond to changing healthcare demands and strengthen its position as a leading tertiary medical institution.

According to him, the introduction of IVF services is expected to significantly improve access to fertility treatment in Ghana by providing advanced reproductive healthcare locally.

The move is also expected to reduce the need for patients to seek fertility treatment abroad while enhancing the hospital’s capacity to deliver highly specialised care.

Preparatory works for the IVF unit are already underway, with space reportedly earmarked within the KML Block and plans in place to equip the facility with the required technology.

Hospital management says the IVF centre will also support the training of future fertility specialists and create research opportunities into reproductive health conditions affecting women seeking to conceive.

In addition to the fertility centre, Korle Bu is also preparing to launch a Corporate Clinic aimed at providing structured healthcare services to corporate institutions and executive clients.

The proposed clinic will offer premium services, including routine health screening, occupational health support, and faster access to specialist consultations.

Dr Adam said the decision follows increasing demand from organisations looking for dependable and high-quality healthcare solutions for their employees.

He disclosed that both projects are at advanced stages of development and are expected to become operational before the end of the year.

The latest announcement forms part of Korle Bu’s wider transformation agenda aimed at deepening specialist care, improving service delivery, and positioning the hospital as a centre of medical excellence in Ghana and across West Africa.
