Kotoko Players Receive Ghc100,000 for Beating Hearts
The Kumasi Asante Kotoko playing body is richer by a staggering Ghc100,000 after they beat rivals, Hearts of Oak 3-1 to win the FA Cup.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kotoko, Dr. Kwame Kyei, gave the colossal amount to the playing body in Kumasi on Tuesday.
The money is expected to be distributed Ghc5,000 each to 20 players, who faced Hearts during the FA Cup finals.
Dr. Kwame Kyei before the game assured that he would give the cash to the playing body if they defeat Hearts at Tamale.
The Kotoko CEO, who was beaming with smiles, said during the presentation that he was fulfilling his promise by showing his appreciation to the playing body.
The Kotoko players were looking extremely cheerful as the cash was distributed to them during a short but colourful ceremony, the paper can confirm.
The players expressed appreciation to Dr. Kwame Kyei after receiving the money, adding that the gesture would boost their confidence.
Meanwhile, reports reaching the paper indicate that the 20 Kotoko players shared the money with colleagues who were not selected among the playing body when they faced Hearts.
