Kurt Okraku Now 2nd Vice President of CAF

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has been named the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

His appointment was officially announced by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe during a press conference in Accra on Saturday.

Okraku, who was elected to the CAF Executive Committee without opposition in March, is moving up the leadership ranks of Africa’s football governing body. His nomination was made by President Motsepe and approved by the CAF Executive Committee during a meeting held in Accra.

Along with Okraku’s appointment, Faouzi Lekjaa was named the First Vice President, replacing Senegal FA President Augustine Senghor. Okraku takes over from Ahmed Yahya, while Gabon’s Pierre-Alain Mounguengui was appointed 3rd Vice President to represent Central Africa.

This appointment highlights CAF’s goal of better integrating the region into the continent’s football scene. Mounguengui’s diplomatic style and focus on grassroots development are seen as key to strengthening CAF’s unity.

In another historic move, DR Congo’s Bestine Kazadi Ditabala was named the 4th Vice President, making her the first female leader in this role. A lawyer and football administrator, her appointment reflects CAF’s commitment to gender equality and inclusion.

Mozambique’s Feizal Sidat was appointed the 5th Vice President, bringing decades of experience from his leadership of the Mozambican Football Federation. His expertise will ensure strong representation for Southern Africa.

These new appointments show the diversity and potential of African football. The collective experience and passion of these leaders offer hope for a more unified CAF under President Patrice Motsepe.
