Manhyia South gets 3 new astro turf parks

THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has constructed three astro turf football parks in his constituents to help boost the production of football stars in the country.

The lawmaker, popularly known as ‘Napo’, has also promised to construct two additional ultra modern astro turf football parks to promote sports and beautify his constituency.

“We have constructed astro turf football parks at Abbey’s Park, Dichemso and Konadu Yiadom Basic School and plans are in the pipeline to construct two additional astro turf parks at the KO school and another place”, he said.

Napo, who was speaking before the grand final match of an Easter Football Gala that he organized, said he has the passion and determined to develop sports infrastructure in his constituency.

According to him, all the electoral areas in the Manhyia South constituency including KO, Manhyia, Afia Kobi, CPC, Dichemso and Odumase, abounds a lot of football talents so he would support them to develop their talents.

The four days football tournament, dubbed ‘Nana-Tomtom Easter Football Gala’ saw eight teams competing for top honours. It was organized by Napo, who doubles as the Minister of Energy. There were juicy prizes at stake.

Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Atta aka ‘Tomtom’, the bookmaker’s favourite to win the upcoming Manhyia South Constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairmanship position, provided support to make the event successful.

At the end of the tournament, Ash Town, who paraded skillful players, lifted the glittering trophy at stake as they beat KO 3-0 on penalties. For their efforts, both the winning team and the runners-up took home cash.

Napo, continuing, assured that the football gala would become an annual affair to bring excitement and oneness in the constituency. Tomtom also said he is contesting for the chairmanship position to support Napo’s good works.

Top dignitaries in Kumasi, including the Otumfuo Apagyahene, Nana Owusu Afriyie, the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah, Nana Owusu Prempeh and Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, Kumasi Urban Roads Director, were there.
