Mexico Name 20-Man Squad for Ghana Friendly

Mexico has announced its squad for the international friendly match against Ghana as both countries continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Mexico. It is expected to be an important test for both teams as they work on their tactics and check the readiness of players ahead of the tournament.

Mexico coach Javier Aguirre has named a 20-man squad for the game. The team includes a mix of experienced players and young talents as he prepares for the World Cup.

Some of the key players selected are veteran defender Jesus Gallardo, Israel Reyes, Brian Gutierrez, and winger Alexis Vega. The coach hopes the friendly will help him make final decisions on his squad before the competition begins.

Mexico, one of the host nations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will use the game as part of its final preparations before opening the tournament against South Africa on June 11. The match against Ghana will also give the team a chance to test themselves against African opposition and measure their tactical strength under pressure.

For Ghana, the match is also very important. The Black Stars see the game as a key preparation ahead of their Group L campaign at the World Cup. Ghana will begin its tournament against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before facing stronger group opponents England and Croatia.
