Minister Commends Kumasi Mayor

Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, has earned the praise of Samuel Atta Akyea, the Minister of Works and Housing, for improving the sanitation of Kumasi.

The Minister, who was on a visit to Kumasi, was particularly thrilled about the night cleanup exercise programme, adopted by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

Without mincing words, Samuel Atta Akyea, who was accompanied by his deputy, Eugene Boakye Antwi, stated that Kumasi was looking significantly beautiful.

According to him, the various interventions made by the KMA, especially the night cleanup exercise strategy, was working to perfection so the Major must be applauded and encouraged.

“I must commend the Kumasi Mayor. I never knew what happens in London is also happening here in Kumasi”, The Works and Housing Minister, told journalists present.

Atta Akyea, who was looking very excited added: “a situation where drainage and streets are cleaned in the night and the next day the city will be clean is laudable.

“I will tell the Mayor of Accra to liaise with his counterpart in Kumasi to replicate the kind of arrangement here where people are working in the night to thoroughly clean the city”.

Atta Akyea, his deputy and the Kumasi Mayor joined the staff of the Assembly, who are responsible for cleaning the city, to sweep the streets and cleared gutters on Friday night.

And earlier on Saturday, Atta Akyea and his deputy, again, joined the KMA team to clean the city. The minister urged the people to keep their environment clean ahead of the raining season.

Osei Assibey Antwi, on his part, stated that it is refreshing and encouraging for Atta Akyea to recognise his good works, promising to sustain his splendid works for Kumasi.
