Mobila welcomes Mahama’s decision to Contest

An Aspirant to the Northern Regional Chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has welcomed and endorsed the decision of Former President John Mahama to contest the party’s presidential primaries slated for December 07, this year.
Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila, who addressed a News conference in Tamale to welcome the Former President’s decision, said it was good news for the party as Mr Mahama was the main threat to the ruling party’s continued stay in power.
On Thursday, representatives of Mr Mahama submitted his letter of intent to contest the NDC’s presidential primaries to the party’s General Secretary at the NDC headquarters in Accra.
Alhaji Mobila said “After a careful consultation with party elders, branch and constituency executives, opinion leaders and the rank and file of our party, I have come to the conclusion that Mr Mahama is the obvious candidate, who can lead the party to wrestle power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020.”
He said “The declaration by Mr Mahama is a new era of hope for the future of the NDC, and we should all embrace the good news and work together in unity devoid of any interest and acrimony to help him bring Ghana to the path of prosperity.”
He said “The decision by Mr Mahama to accept the challenge to contest the NDC Presidential primaries and to subsequently lead the party in the 2020 national elections is a demonstration that he really has the party and its teeming supporters at heart.”
Alhaji Mobila said “The 2020 elections are going to be a contest of comparison of records between the NPP and the NDC, and I have no doubt that considering the track records of Mr Mahama, the Ghanaian people will reward honesty over lies and deceit, which the NPP perpetuated on the electorate.”
Meanwhile, Alhaji Mobila faces competition from four others including; Mr Moses Mabengba, a Former Northern Regional Minister, and Mr Wumbei Apasinaba, current Northern Regional Organizer of the NDC to become the party’s Chairman in the region.
The NDC’s Northern Regional Executive elections are slated for September 01, 2018.
