Patience Osafo, the lactating mother who was assaulted by a police officer at the Shiashie branch of Midland Savings and Loans, has spoken about the incident and said it happened on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
According to her, she started going to the Midland branch to withdraw her savings on Friday, July 13, 2018, and for four days, she could not get her money totaling Gh270, with the explanation that, the financial institution was experiencing network challenges.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, police officer, Frederick Amanor Skalla, was seen virtually punching and slapping the nursing mother in a banking hall.
Starting with an umbrella, the policeman hit the woman and her baby several times in the head before he started slapping and punching her.
”The child I was carrying is my grandchild. Her mother who is my daughter was raped and she is suffering psychologically and so I am the one who has been taking care of the child. I needed money to provide for my family and that was why I went to the bank” – she said .
