Napo equips Manhyia South schools with furniture

THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has donated over 1,000 pieces of assorted furniture to selected Basic Schools and one Senior High School in his constituency to improve academic work.

The donation from Dr. Opoku Prempeh was in a swift response to an appeal made to him by the beneficiary schools through the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Affectionately called ‘Napo’ in political circles, the MP is noted for providing the needed support to help schools in his constituency to excell.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, who doubles as the Minister responsible for Energy provided 52 Hexagonal Tables for KG, 300 Chairs for KG, 510 Mono Desks for JHS, 300 Dual Desks for Primary Schools, and 400 Foreign Desks For Serwaa Nyarko Girls SHS.

In his remarks, Napo said education was the only means to help bridge the gap between the poor and the rich in society, so he would always support education in his area.

He urged the heads of the various schools to ensure the proper care of the items to promote effective teaching and learning.

Napo also used the opportunity to encourage all schools in my constituency not to relent on their efforts but continue to be the best in the region and strive to be the best nationwide.

The MP, who had in the past, supported schools in his constituency with laptops, books, computers and other items, said the recent donation would not be a nine-day wonder.

According to him, he is aware of the immense value of education, therefore he would continuously provide the needed support to all academic institutions in his area.

He admonished pupils in his constituency and the country at large, to take their education seriously so that they would grow to become influential people in future.

David Oppong, Metro Director – GES who received the items on behalf of the Service thanked Napo for his continuous support for education in his constituency.

Dignitaries present at the short ceremony included, Mr. Martin Addis Fordjour- Head of Supervision GES, Kumasi, Mr. Asante Twum Albert, Mr. Peter Gyemfi- Head of Supply and Logistics, Nana Yeboah Asiamah- PRO, GES, Kumasi Metro All heads of basic schools in the constituency.

All Assembly Members from the 6 Electoral areas in my constituency, officials from the Manhyia Sub Metro, Pupils and students as well as Party Executives were also present

The beneficiary schools include the Ash Town M/A KG, St. Joseph’s R/C KG, KO Methodist Primary A, B and C, Konadu Yiadom M/A Basic and Kumasi R/C Girls.

The rest are the Dichemso M/A A and B, Odumase Extension M/A, New Tafo Dichemso M/A, Serwaa Nyarko Girls, which is the only SHS to benefit, among others.
